Metal Joining:
Remmele offers a variety of metal joining options in order to maximize a customer’s set of options for their project. In addition to traditional welding and brazing options, Remmele also offers licensed and proprietary technologies:
ConnexSys®
ConnexSys, a Remmele Technology, can reduce assembly time and cost by providing an alternative to traditional joining technologies that require clamping, fixturing, bolts, or rivets by relying on a self-locking pre-engineered snap fit. Remmele Engineering’s patent-pending approach enhances the connection force when used in combination with Friction Stir Welding (FSW), brazing, and other connection techniques and can create a hermetically sealed joint or seam.
Friction Stir Welding
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a licensed metal joining technique with many dynamic applications in the aerospace and defense industries. FSW is accomplished through use of special tools to plasticize metal along a joint and create a solid state, full penetration weld. Although currently focused on welding aluminum alloys, the process is being further developed to work on magnesium, copper, steel, titanium, and nickel alloys.
Friction Stir Welding offers several technical advantages relative to conventional fusion welding, which include low distortion, retaining parent material mechanical properties, improved bonding for certain aluminum alloys, minimal shrinkage, and no porosity.
