Careers at Remmele Engineering

Apprenticeship Program at Remmele Engineering:

Remmele's outstanding apprenticeship program is recognized nationally for its ability to help students become highly skilled machinists and be an integral part of the Remmele workforce. A Remmele apprentice will learn the machining craft from fellow experts in a structured environment, while getting to apply new skills along the way to some of the most innovative and complex projects in the industry today.

Program qualifications:

The application review process usually starts twice a year (fall and spring), where applications are reviewed and candidates are interviewed by members of an Apprenticeship Program Committee.

Upon acceptance into the program, apprentices are assigned to a “home plant” to begin their training. Specific Remmele personnel, including supervisors and journeyperson machinists, are involved in training new apprentices using a structured on-the-job training format Apprentices are also required to take classroom courses, the cost of which is absorbed by the company. Progress in the program is tracked through competency evaluations and classroom course exams.

An apprentice achieves journeyperson machinist status following completion of one year of basic training and 2.5 years of advanced training, assuming that all other program requirements are met.

Awards / Accolades

Remmele’s apprenticeship participants are sponsored by the company to compete in national competitions, many of which have won first place and runner-up awards on the state, regional, and national level in competitions sponsored by the National Tooling & Machining Association.
