ConnexSys®:
ConnexSys®, a Remmele Technology, can reduce assembly time and cost for customers by providing an alternative to traditional joining technologies that require clamping, fixturing, bolts, or rivets. Remmele Engineering developed and has a patent pending on this innovative metal joining approach. ConnexSys will enhance the connection force when used in combination with Friction Stir Welding (FSW), brazing, and other connection techniques and can create a hermetically sealed joint or seam.
There are many techniques (friction stir welding, conventional welding, brazing and bonding) for joining two pieces of material together along a seam or joint. Almost always, these techniques require the two pieces of material to be clamped or temporarily retained in a fixed position to one another during and/or after the application of the connection technique. Clamping and holding parts to be connected and sealed with friction stir welding is a challenge. In many instances, ConnexSys can take the place of clamps when they are found to be incompatible with the joining process. The snap feature is machined with tight tolerances, which allows ConnexSys to enhance the joint strength of the two elements. ConnexSys can be used with various materials and close tolerance configurations. Remmele can help its clients find where ConnexSys technology can be used to enhance manufacturing processes and products.
Current materials used in conjunction with ConnexSys:
- Aluminum Alloys
- Al 6000
- Al 7000
ConnexSys joints can be sealed with:
- Friction Stir Welding
- Mil-Spec Epoxy
