ConnexSys (R)

ConnexSys Example

ConnexSys can reduce assembly time and cost by providing an alternative to traditional joining technologies that require clamping, fixturing, bolts, or rivets. Remmele Engineering developed and patented this innovative approach to provide a better solution for our customers. ConnexSys will enhance the connection force when used in combination with Friction Stir Welding (FSW), brazing, and other connection techniques and can create a hermetically sealed joint or seam.

The top figure shows a ConnexSys joint combined with friction stir welding; the second figure shows the same joint with an epoxy option.

There are many techniques (friction stir welding, conventional welding, brazing and bonding) for joining two pieces of material together along a seam or joint. Almost always, these techniques require the two pieces of material to be clamped or temporarily retained in a fixed position to one another during and/or after the application of the connection technique. Clamping and holding parts to be connected and sealed with friction stir welding is a challenge. In many instances, ConnexSys can take the place of clamps when they’re found to be incompatible with the joining process. The snap feature is machined with tight tolerances, which allows ConnexSys to enhance the joint strength of the two elements. ConnexSys can be used with various materials and close tolerance configurations. Let us help you find where ConnexSys technology can be used to enhance your manufacturing processes and products.
